Composer-singer Salim Merchant says his life revolves around music and that he tries to involve in anyting that has a musical connect.
"Music is my life and wherever there is music, I am there. I listen to all types of songs. Music is like a blessing in my life. I always try to get involved with everything that has something to do with music," he told reporters here Tuesday.
Salim was speaking at the launch of his close friend and flutist Paras Nath's album - "The Eternal Winds".
"Paras is our close friend and he plays in our band. When we hear his flute in ours ongs - 'Yeh hausla kaise jhuke' and 'O re piya', we get so happy," said Salim who came with his brother Sulaiman.
Conceived and composed by Paras Nath, "The Eternal Winds" is a compilation of fusion music - a mix of both, Indian and Western.
Praising Paras, Salim said: "Paras is an amazing musician. He understands our classical tradition really well... he is keeping our music alive."
Apart from Salim-Sulaiman, Paras has played for renowned artists like Gulzar, Bhupinder Mitali, Vishal Shekhar, Leslie Lewis and Shantanu Moitra.
Other music enthusiasts like Leslie Lewis, Roop Kumar Rathod, Richa Sharma and Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt also attended the function.
